looks black, and it only seems to do it when I gun it, when it goes back down to idle. I forget though, what do the colors represent? Black, oil; white, coolant; that right, are there any others?
black is too rich a mixture, but i have no idea what could be doing it, sooo many possibilities, o2 sensor, tps (throttle position sensor), maybe your egr isnt' kicking in (cuz it probably should be at high rpm)
My camry blows black smoke if i stand still and hit it past 4500 rpm but the car has 358,000 ks (222,000 miles) on it. I have got the piston rings and headgasket changed.
Originally posted by spills1969 Could this mean my piston rings are goin bad? If so, Im gonnaa have to do an engine rebuild, which then I can turbo that bad azz!
But, cud that be the problem? If I rev it up to 4k, when it goes back to idle, it shoots out some smoke.
And if I have to rebuilthe engine (probably just pistons, rings and metal head gasket), how much u think I'm lookin at in parts alone?
That happened to my camry awhile ago. I didnt know what was wrong then after a while it died. What had happened was that the oil pan was leaking oil so there was no more oil in my carand from that it had broken the connecting rod which then had landed in the oil pump so it destroyed the oil pump and i had to buy a new motor.
