2008 Camry very thirsty

My 4 cylinger Camry really thirstier than Oldsmobile 88 6 cylinder.City driving runs about 12-13 miles an gallon when it is supposed to be better than bigger and six cylinder Oldsmobile .
Used to spend 80 dollars in gas average per month on Olds.
Now I am spending easily 120 dollars a month on Camry!
Anyone has same gas mileage?

You might want to recheck your numbers because my V6 gets better mpg and I have a heavy foot.

Yeah. For real. I drive aggressively, and I'm nowhere near those low numbers.

I would either take it back to the dealer or get a locking gas cap.

How are you determining your mileage?

FWIW, my V6 08 got about that for the first tank of (dealer provided) gas. I'm over 1300 miles, and now getting about 24-26 mpg. I doubt anything was wrong with the gas, just that the car needed to run a bit..?

It runs better on highways, But city driving is just opposite.
2000 miles and it stills does 12-13 mpg city driving.
About half tank per 90-100 miles or better (9-10 gallons).
It is 4 cylinder!

How exactly are you calculating your MPG?

I asked that earlier as well, and he never replied.

The best way to determine your MPG is to fill up at a gas station, zero out the trip meter, drive until the tank is near "E", fill up, and then divide the miles you went my the number of gallons you put in your tank.

I drive 90% city. Stop and go all the time. I pride myself in my fuel econonmy and my driving. My car is a 2008 r cylinder LE and I am getting 27.5 mpg. I still only have 3500 miles on the car and haven't done my first oil change yet. MY goal is consistent 28 mpg local.

What are your driving habits? I never go above 3000 rpms and I keep up with traffic without a problem. I coast wherever possible and don't carry a lot of crap in my car.

I feel your pain. I am thinking about taking mine into the dealership to see what they say cuz I have test driven 2 other camrys one a blue ribbon se and the other an LE and both the LE and the other SE got way better gas mileage than this white one that I ended up buying. Oh and BTW all were 4 cylinders. I had decided that I was goin to be getting a 4 cylinder to save money on gas, but, I swear on anything that this car gets the exact same gas mileage as the '08 V6 Impala I traded in for the camry. I know that can't be right so it seems I may need to go to the dealrship and see what they say. I only weigh 120 lbs and I'm 5'3" so I'm not a big person and I hardly carry anything around with me. I am not sure exactly how many miles I get to the gallon, but, I know it's less than any 4 cylinder I have ever owned and I've owned 7 cars in 3 years time and the only one that was a V6 was the impala.

It may be your ECU learning your driving patterns... How many miles are on it?
