just had timing belt, water pump & both other belts on my 2000 Camry. Was about $550.00 which I figured was about right. Car has 55000
miles. Dealer wanted to sell me new plugs & wire also. but i Did not go for them. I thought Camry came with platinum tipped plugs that go for about hundred thousand miles. Am I correct ?

I think the spark plug change recomendation for the generation 4 Camry was 60,000 miles. Check the maintainance section of your owner's manual to be certain.
Incidently, I think the timing belt change interval was 90,000 miles. You may want to check that out too Although it's a bit late, you will know for the next time.
Might as well have had them changed then (or at least bought some new ones yourself to give to them during the t belt change and avoid their parts markup). Why, because the plugs are supposed to come out during the t-belt change anyway and the labor cost should have been exactly the same or only a few bucks more!
The 2000 Camry plugs are supposed to be changed at 60 000 miles. You need twin ground double platinum plugs from Denso or NGK because of the way that the ignition system works in that car.

So you're saying since I'm using single tip ngk's I'm missing/damaging something?
I'm driving a 98 toyota camry le v6
It won't damage anything. They just won't last as long.
if your talkin about single tipped platinums, then yes your right....but Iridium plugs only come single tipped and last as long or even longer then the traditional double tipped platinums.......
I also find the car to be peppier with my NGK Iridium IX plugs.
