4th Generation weird rear lights problem

I have a 4 cylinder 97 camry LE.
The white back-up lights dont light on and the left side of red back-up light also does not light on.

But when I turn the head lights on, the rear left red light is on!

That is the white lights will not be on. The left red light will only be on when I turn on the head lights.
The red back-up light on the right side is normal.

It is so wired!!!
I read the camry service manual (body_electrical), but still cannot find any answer.
Could anyone tell me what's wrong?? or give me some clue.

"The red back-up light on the right side is normal."

Back up lights are always white.

If changing the bulbs as freestylez suggested doesn't fix your problem, then the next thing to do would be to open up the loom of wires inside the trunk, by the driver's side trunk hinge. Look for frayed or broken wires in there and repair as necessary.

Also could be your stalk switch but since the reverse lights dont go through that - hopefully you do not have TWO problems. change the bulbs and check the wiring run as the other two guys say, also another issue may be your reverse light switch on the trans needs cleaning, adjusting somehow, or replacing. (I'd get a junkyard switch myself, for testing at least)
