Tokico HP vs. TRD Bilstein strut

I am thinking about changing my TRD struts to Tokico struts, I felt the ride quality with TRD strut was too harsh, especially in Toronto with all those potholes. How much difference would it make? Will there be a noticeable improvement on ride quality if I changed to Tokico struts? what about performance? will there be a big decrease in the performance during cornering?

If your talking about performance shocks then there arent much different in the ride becuase they are made stiffer for better turnings and stiffer aint gonna help absorb those potholes you run over. Actually any shocks you will still feel the potholes best way is to avoid them.

Assuming you're talking about gen4 right?

I haven't sat in a side by side comparison, but the TRD struts are supposed to be the stiffest of the three performance struts avail on the gen4 (TRD/Bilstein, Tokico, KYB).

I have the Tokico's and they're fairly comfortable -- they feel close to stock except on really rough roads. I know suspension comfort is subject to personal opinion, although I've never gotten complaints about a harsh ride.

Actually there is a difference. If your comparing TRD struts which are from Bilstien and Tokico blues. The Tokico blue are more for a touring type of ride, while the TRD suspension is made for a little of track and touring. But if you go with Tokico Illuminas those are alot better than the Bilstein/TRD suspension, just because of their adjustability...

I have a 2000 Camry. At one point I was going to get the TRD lowering springs and the TRD sport struts. When I called TRD they told me they had discontinued the struts, but still sold the lowering springs. I asked them what struts I should use. They informed me that the TRD struts were made by Bilstein. In fact, if you look closely at the 2000 TRD Sport Parts Catalog you will see that the struts say Bilstein on them. They stated that I could use Tokico as they were cheaper in price. This info comes directly from TRD.
