Camry Tranny Switch

Ok....I just got back from driving around with my friends, having fun n what not....And we started talking abotu the Power button on the Camry Automatic Transimission.

When i have tha button on I think the car doesn't feel as strong as it is when its off. Is there any documentaion that that button boosts the power level, or is it there to just change the driving style? And if there is nothing written on it, then personal opinions, experiences, thoughts are appreciated...Thanx

i think the ect button simply makes the tranny more likely to downshift when u give it gas and it also won't upshift til later (5400 rpm on my gen3 I4). it's not a magical button to bump up power from the engine, it merely makes the tranny act more aggressively. i also found that with the ect on, it behaves much more like the tranny on my dad's 96 accord I4 except the accord will willfully go up to the redline before shifting if i have it on WOT

yea sry i phrased that wrong, i didn't mean if it was more power, what i meant is if it runs faster. I feel like with the power button off i get more out of each gear.
