Wonderin if anyone knows the apprx. time for the 3sfe in the 1/4 mile (Im gonna run my soon, gotta get my battery tied down better, damn safety regulations! ). And also neone know the HP/TQ specs for em? And do you know if thats at the FW, or to the wheels? Just kinda wonderin so i know how much I got with the "mods" Ive done to it...
For a stock 3sfe, about 18.5. They're really not strong motors, 115hp and 122ft/lbs of torque at the flywheel, that's not saying much for a 3000+lb car.
I was running 18 flat after really learning how to drive and putting on a 2.25" catback and intake. Good luck.

4 cyl 2nd gens do not weigh 3000lbs. They are around 2700-2800lbs.
You are right about the times though. If you have an auto, you will be in the 18's stock. No doubt about it. People with 5 speeds can hit 17's stock. Either way, it's pretty slow.

I was counting with you in the car. My time was with the 5 speed. 3rd gear would kill me. I'd jump out so far in first and second and then the third gear would kill me. the 3rd gear on the 5 speeds is soooooo loose.

You ain't kiddin! Since my '87 is a DLX model without a tach I know my car doesn't really come alive in Third until around 70-75 mph. I guess that's about 4000 RPM or so. First and Second are uselessly short, and have to be to keep this engine in its narrow powerband, and remember that since you have to upshift into Third well before 60 mph (56 I think) you're also losing a half-second off your 0-60. Think what that'll do to a 1/4 mile time. I remember my dad's old '88 mustang GT could hit 75 in Second and still not be at redline... what a violent car that was... Downshifting from Fifth all the way to Second to pass a slower car on the highway was a blast. Too bad I was the passenger when this happened
BTW on the TT-CC website where I found the specs for my car, the curb weight was listed as 2690 lbs... I'd guess this is for a five-speed with no power options (that would be me).

Yeah, those sound about right. As for power to the wheels, I'd venture to say it'd be about 99 hp and 90 ft-lbs. of torque. Of course this is just a shot in the dark, so don't hold me to these numbers, and by all means, correct me if I'm wrong.

i've polished up that little intercooler of mine, and once the HSC's over i will be focusing on getting this turbo in 100%. currently i'm cruising with no front bar (i took it off to see how the intercooler would fit and couldn't be bothered putting it back on). fist thing after the exams i'm going to remove the A/C and get the CV boots replaced. so hopefully about a month or two the turbo should be in, i'm excited!
Hehehe cool man cant wait to see it all done man.Not sure when we get the TAFE marks back.Anyway good luck in your HSC and dont forget to take us for a spin when its all done
