Scratches on the hood...

I have some scratches on the hood of my car, is there any real scratch remover that will take them away. I wax my car every two weeks and I know that many "scratch removers" are all just wax. Is there any good stuff that will take them away without having to spend hundreds of dollars in a body shop ?

It really all depends on how deep the scratch is..if its only on the clear coat theres some 3M stuff thats great..I can't think of the name..if someone else who views knows what I'm talking about maybe they can let you know..

Otherwise if its down to the metal i.e. like someone keying your car..then you might wanna opt to take it to a shop..but it won't cost like $1000's of dollars..see a small local but reputable shop..somewhere your friends may have been..you should be able to get it done real cheap.

It also depends on the color. If its a stock color very simple.

The dealer also has touch-up paint which is pretty cheap and handy for touch-ups..run a forum search and see what others did.

Thanks, I have some touch up paint but especially on the hood, more attention will be drawn to the scratch. The scratches are mid-sized but not too deep.

As for bringing it to a shop, Im gonna make some calls but if it runs me a tab of over $100 I dont think I wanna do it that way.

I would take pictures, but my parents took my digital cam on their trip...

For the Hood: I think thats a pebble grain markings on the hood. There is no fix-it that can really patch up things. best/cheapest suggestion is for you to wetsand that portion/ primer it..and then take it to a bodyshop for them to respray the whole hood. if you most of the diy job yourself...then you should be looking at close to 300-400 dollars for the hood.

is there any substance I can cover the entire hood with in order to protect it / covery the scratches, they should make something like that...

If I have to pay 300-400 to get it fixed, thats just evil...

Well....after you get it fixed and all taken care off (ie. repaiting). then after the paint has cured...you might think of a invisible bra. I know what you all are thinking..no its not that Black thingie that goes on your front bumper and lower portion of the hood (its based on that tho). its clear. In a lot of cars its hardly noticable. Someone over at solaraguy did it, and it costed him close to 600 for front bumper, hood, mirrors and his front valance and his sideskirts.
Here's a link for invisible bra's:
