1997 Camry will not start after adding Power Steering Fluid

Over the last few days I had noticed that my car was difficult to steer and it would make a whiney noise, I checked the power steering fluid and noticed it was low so I purchased STP Power Steering fluid (instead of the recommended Dexron). After putting in about 10 ounces, the car would no longer start. It makes a rapid clicking sound when I turn the key, normally I would just assume this was a dead battery but is it possible I put the wrong power steering fluid in and this caused it?

No, it's not at all possible.

Lightbulb

Just be careful not to fill the psf tank with too much fluid, as its hard to see the full line. I have added too much fluid to mine and had some starting problems which went away as soon as i drained some fluid out...oh and the type of fluid you used is perfectly alright. P

Sounds like a weak battery.

Do the above and check battery, terminals, and the connections etc.

Get a jump start, and then you will reassure yourself that the PS fluid did not hurt your car.

Search (Check out the DIY) for PS fluid change.
