Flywheels and trannys: Aint they a bitch?!

Ive been hearing a vibrating kinda noise in my engine, thought it was my heat shields on my exhaust. Pulled em off, still hearin it. Someone said it might be my cat clogged up and creating too much backpressure and is gonna kill the valves. Took it to a muffler shop, aint the cat. Come to find out I either got a warped/cracked flywheel, or my trannys about to go to Toyo Heaven. Str8 from Toyo, flywheels gonna be 400, or i cud get my tranny rebuilt for over 1k. Im about to say fuck it and get a Ford Festiva. My dad had one and they were good lil cars (plus i only got 500 saved up now). So if neone needs a parts car, hit me up spills1969@hotmail.com or on AIM: dinkydoodle813

Man that sux0rs. You tried junk yards at all? You could get a somewhat serviceable one to tide you over til you have enough dough for a rebuilt tranny + flywheel. That's assuming you'd put it in yourself. If you're having a shop do it then it really doesn't make sense to pay the labor for it twice.

I don't care if your dad had good luck, the Fiesta is not only a total death trap, but it is a hunk of crap and you will hate it.

OK, OK. Ill admit I was pretty steamed the other day when I made this post. But I had some time to blow off some steam, and I also realized that I had some money saved up in savings bonds, so I aint too worried bout the money part. So I took it to the shop today and they said is gonna be 7.5 hours to take out the tranny and put it back in, then maybe aniuther .5 hours to replaace the flywheel, so its gonna be bout 400 + the flywheel (50 bux maybe). And YES, i tried to do it myself, but it was just way over my head. So the more I think about it, I might sink in 1k and rebuild and turbo the engine, and maybe a nuther few hundred and get all the body work and paint evened out. Still thinkin bout it, figured Id get more miles-for-the-buck if i rebuild and keep this one. And yes FRITO, Ima go to the tag office and run the plate and call the owner to see if I can work something out, cuz i REALLY need those parts! If nuthin else, ill just take off my cat-back and a few other parts and put it in the other one, cuz its a V6! and Ive heard those things are actually pretty fast, well as far as Camrys are concerned...

Yea, every car has a flywheel. (throws the camry manual at dirtbikes)

spills, for 400$ for a flywheel why don't you go ahead and get a lightened flywheel?

Mine broke on my auto. it sucked, car just died on the freeway. they were going to charge me 500 to fix it, and that is after charging 200 to see what was wrong with it so I said F-it especially considering my car would have that one new part and a 160,000+ mile tranny that is about to go. So now it is sitting outside in my parking space with the transmission in the trunk and I am just going to go ahead and and do a manual swap with a 3sge tranny.

For an auto, I couldnt find one. I found one at this place up the roar called Auto Fitness, they sell one for the 5 spd, but its close to 400 bux, but he says it weighs close to nothing. BELIEVE ME, if I can find one before monday for a good price, Ill get one.

Anyone know of ne Gen 2 performance part sellers (man, never hear "Gen 2" and "performance" in the same sentance!) that I can get a flywheel from? Cuz I was gonna get one from the junkyard, but the guy that owns the shop thats got my car just called me and they JUST now (noon saturday) are gettin started on it, and the JY closes at 2. So, needless to say, Im not gettin my car back till monday at the earliest, if they even open. FUCK, didnt even think about it bein Columbus Day and all! God, cant I get a BREAK?!

On an auto, It's reall called a flexplate, not a flywheel. That is the more common name. I don't think you will find an aftermarket one at all. Especially not for a camry.

??
A flywheel is part of the engine, not part of the tranny. There's a flywheel on autos and manuals. Look and see if you have an 8 bolt or 6 bolt flywheel, you can use a flywheel from a 3sgte.

I know. Still, everything I have found calls them a flexplate but the shop I was at called it a flywheel. Of course as soon as you tell people your flywheel on your auto messed up they all say "auto's don't have flywheels" I think the name is interchangeable. Whatever, obviously we are all talking about the same thing.

About the flywheel. I have a 6 Bolt one. That means I can't use the 3sge flywheel right? Everything I have found online points to the 3sge being an 8 bolt flywheel.

Yea, I'm pretty sure that the 3sge is an 8 bolt. I'll msg 88LE to make sure.

Is the 5sfe flywheel compatible with the 3sfe? I'm guessing not.

EDIT: Nevermind. I just found out Clutchmasters makes a lightweight flywheel for the 3sfe plus a clutch for the 3sge so if I decide to go that route I will use a clutchmasters setup.
