gauge cluster question 99

I have a 1999 camry XLE v6 and i just bought a 2000 XLE instrument gauge cluster... will there be any problems swapping out these gauges with my old ones? Aren't the 2000 engines the same as the 99 engines, or would this even matter? the reason i bought this is cuz i am putting some gauges on and last time i did the acceleration on my car got all messed up, i am trying to avoid that by working on a separate cluster so if i mess these up, no big deal...

they should be the same. and when youre working with the needles, be sure not to move the needles beyond their functional range. ie gas needle beyond the full mark or the acceleration needle past the 140 mark or what not. good luck

thanks, good advice, what happens if the needles are shot too far? I wonder if that is what messed up my acceleration system last time- or maybe having te car run while unpluggin them did something...

If the needles go too far the calibration just goes wacko. You can have the car running without your instrument gauges, that doesn't mess anything up, although you may need to reset your check engine light.

I'm not sure what happens if you unplug it while the car's running.
