Starter Problem

I usually post in 3rd Gen, but I have an issue that is universal to any model.

I have a 1997 Corolla (actually belongs to my kids) and I cannot get the car started. Well, rather than repeat myself, please go to my post and read what I've done so far.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

please don't cross-post, especially into another section

you're getting some good help over in the corolla section already

they're all on the right track.

if you think it's the starter, then change it. it sounds like the starter solenoid is going. the first click is the relay. the rest is done by the starter- the spinning noise is probably the starter spinning the motor, but if there's something wrong with the starter, the spinning gear may not pop out to engage the flywheel/flexwheel and instead just spin in place

you do that 10-15 times and it could possibly drain your battery. the starter takes a lot of power.

good luck.
