Question 1MZ V6 Camry engine

Greetings
Quick question, I am about to purchase a brand new engine for my 2002 Camry V6. The old one is using about one quart of oil per week (rings are shut) I don’t fill like rebuilding. The guy who is selling the engine theblockhouse (St. Louis, MO) from Ebey

“1MZ V6 Camry engine. The engine is new and full dressed. Never been installed and ready to drop in a vehicle. Contact seller for other new Toyota engines that are for sale. Engine is also being marketed locally therefore I reserve the right to remove it from the auction early.”

From the pictures engine looks identically to mine. What should I ask him specifically to make sure?

Thanks
Rob

It's a 1MZFE for sure.. 100%.

The coil packs indicate that it is a 2nd gen 1MZFE which was made for 97+ production Camrys and Solaras. Looks like you found the right one.

Just out of curiosity, would this engine fit in the Gen3 Camry without any fabrication? Or are there significant differences between the 1st gen 1mz and the 2nd gen 1mz?

Just curious as well, if your car is a 2002, isn't it still under warranty? Can't a dealership fix your problem?

if i am not mistaken the engine is pretty much the same as the gen 3-3.5 1MZFE, except for parts of the intake (plenum i think its called) and such, so i dont believe it would be a prob dropping one into a gen 3. plus if you do that you will be able to put the TRD S/C in your gen3

I bought the car four months ago with 27,000.- miles, car was driven November 2001 to November 2002 then it was reposes by the Credit Union. From that time on it was in storage, until I bought it car had 0.5 quart of original oil and original filter of course. Ever since I put in the new oil car is smoking for 15-20 sec. on cold start up I did every thing flush it 3 times, synthetic oil, etc. Car has 33,000.- miles right now no signs of improvement.

yeah, it'll just about trop in......but you also have to take the whole intake manifold from the the gen4 to make it all fit easily.....

basil over here at T-Lex did it, and that's what he said....

The engine in the photo is for a 5spd (notice the clutch). I would check to make sure it will fit in your auto. As far as I know the EGR setup is different between the two. Just something worth looking into before your committed.
