hello. i have been gone all summer but would have put down for the trunk if i knew about it. anybody else still interested? i read there was only 3 people. come on if those 3 people still are we need 1 more correct?
CF hood... on FWD car... = stupid!
this guy is smart to want the trunk only but Camrys weight distribution is biased towards the front so a lighter rear end would just cause more understeer. would be fine for drag racing i suppose

carbon hood is stupid? How about I make you a hood and front bumper from 1" thick plate steel. It'll be stronger! It will also add 3-400 pounds to the front end. make that traction real good!!!
What the hell?
You haven't read enough about the benefit of reducing weight all around the car. Reducing the weight in the front reduces the front bias (as does moving the battery to the back) and reducing the weight at the rear will reduce the weight of the car in general (though moving the weight bias forwards) as does the carbon hood. In the end you will end up with a lighter car. Hence faster.
Dude, I have gutted the interior, cut out sections of metal in the front, mounted a race bucket (1) 4 inches back from the stock rearwardmost position, moved the battery to the back, installed a fuel cell and now I am replacing metal with lighter parts. The general goal is light and balanced.
If carbon fiber is a style choice only, then so be it. It looks good and they have more money than you, so what. If it is for function, then so much the better, as all the great killing machines are made of carbon, even ones at the track.
Yes, I would still like to make it and the vented RX-7 style hood. The issue is money and support. If the support is there for the trunk now, we can look at doing it again.
Sean
I will check around to see what can be built, who can do it, etc.
I did talk to one company about a year ago that would build me one for a grand. That was just one though. 4 should be a lot cheaper.
Who is in on this?
1) henry bui
2) kmorphosis
3) me (woody)
4) ?
5) ?
Add more to this list it might be easier, and likely cheaper.

Sounds good. I'll start knocking on doors (so to speak) tomorrow.
This should be enough to start this up.
