Question Socket size of oil pan drain plug

Can anyone tell me what socket size I need for the oil pan drain plug on a '04 V6 engine?

Also, does the drain plug use a metal crush washer? And if so, does anyone have the Toyota part number for it.

Thanks,
Kooter

all toyota uses 14mm, except for few old ones, like 7M-GE, etc etc

usually, they use paper wahser, and you can get them from your local mech....it doesn't reallymatter which to use, metal or paper, justto remind you, those washers are also used so you can't over tighten the drain plugand not strip the thread on the oil pan.....so don't over tighten, and don't use any leverage. does not need to be tighten hard!

Thanks for that information.

Yeah, I've been changing oil in a BMW M3 for a few years and always use the recommeneded torque for the drain plug so there's no chance of stripping the threads. It's a natural tendency to want to overtighten it.

Do you happen to know what Toyota recommends that the drain plug be torqued at?

Kooter

PS - Where in NYC are you located?
