maintence/repair/upgrade Q's

Hey guys, just found out bout this forum... usually play around supraforums but i have a few Q's about my '93 camry with 170K on it.

It still runs fine.. but there are a few probs that i need to correct and was wondering if u fellas can point me in the right direction.

1) How can i tighten up the ebrake?? I pull it all the way up and only at the very top does it actually stop the car...kinda

2) How do i adjust the level of the headlights?? Those bastards work like regular when i got my highs on... hehe

3) I drive a 4 banger and well i got one of those aftermarket intakes for ebay and well it improves power, but its always makin a hissing sound. When i look at the old intake it looks like there are 2 compartments... 1 for the filter and 1 for a muffler *possibly*... if so.. how can i transfer that baby over??

Well there are other probs i need covered but i'd though that this would be enought for post 1

Thanx

ebrake is accesed by a panel in the center console, there's 2 nuts on one about 3 inch bolt, unlock the top nut (using 2 10 mm wrenches) tighten down the bottom one till you get about 5-7 clicks for full brake, and then lock the nuts back up

there's 2 screws on the headlight, one on top and one behind it, those adjust the headlights, i'm not sure which one does which, mine are broken

for your intake the other thing is probably a resonator, i'm not sure if you can get away from the hissing, i think that's what those things do, just check that the clamps are tight,

Thx for the timely responce... will work on 1 and 2 tommorow morn and about 3.. ya all the clamps are tight and i even doubled up and bought non-cheapo clamps...

What does the resonator do exactly?? And can i somehow get away with just changing the filter from the stock rectangle to the aftermarket cylindrical one?? w/out replacing the rubber tubbing to metal tubbing???

Ok.. fixed the lights the knob on top is for up/down ... unscrew/screw and the knob that sticks out from the back of the light to towards the engine.. thats for side to side... screw points outward.. unscrew - inwards

about the brake.. exactly where do i look for those nuts and bolts??? do i have to remove my whole center console?? which looks like a pain in the ass

na, just pry out an access panel on top of the console, around the change tray or something

use a flathead screwdriver, or a credit card

you have a handbrake right... you should be able to remove the part that's all around it

now i have a pedal brake myself, the little fabric thing on top infront of the console comes out

there will be something on top infront of the arm rest compartment that you can take out

Ok.. stupid me.. i found what ur talkin bout.. i have 2 compartments that are to the side of the brake above the "change tray area". 1 to the left and 1 to the right.. i didnt try to tighten any of them yet.. as i seem to have lost my socket wrench, but i guess thats that stuff.

Oh and my front passenger side window motor/regulater broke.. I bought a new one for like $60 and was wondering if it is difficult to replace?? I'm not too knowlegable around cars.. mostly worked with replacing brake pads/rotors/calipers but i have a mechanical thumb. Any recommendations?? Or shoould i take her to the doctor for professional work?

warlock.. that sound is damn annoying...

see funny thing is.. my buddy had an old mazda mx5 and put one of those intakes on his and it made the same sound... then he sold that and bought a newer version, that had the jap engine in it and put the same intake in and boom.. no hissing.

when i drove around with the intake in, there was a noticeable boost in torque so i want it in.. but the sound drives me nuts and the looks i get are wierd. The sound of the engine reving is sweet.. but idling sucks my balls
