...in hot air. I haven't attached a hose or downpipe to it so no cold air is getting to the engine. Results? A little bit of loss on low end torque, but at around 3500 RPM, the car feels a little bit faster and a lot louder. This applies in 2nd gear.
With my old drop-in K&N filter, at around 110 km, if I floored it, I'd be up to 140 in no time. Now, my car slowly takes it's time getting up there.
I need cold air. Ram air. I'm thinking about going ghetto and just creating my own piping system with some ABS pipes (no hose for me)...I might get lazy and go to Brullen and tell them to make one for me...it shouldn't be too expensive either.
Just thought I'd share that with everyone...maybe some Camry V6 will follow....
So you got a custom bracket?? Where? When? What? Why? How?
Not only is it sucking in hot air, it's sucking in a smaller volume of air because of the lack of a dedicated air conduit like in the stock setup. Time for one of your ghetto style contraptions.
As for you getting props from middle-age and up geezers, I think you need to re-think your overall mod strategy.

Yeah, it's louder, only because the engine noise is let out closer to the passenger cabin. But if the placebo effect kicks in, you'd think it's louder because the engine is working harder and you're going faster.

I made the bracket from a air duct piece from Lansing. Only cost $2. I wanted to hear what intake sounded like and if it made a difference...obviously it did, but not for the better. I'll buy a real bracket when I have time or get Richard at Brullen to make one for me (he said he'll do it).
As for my mods, don't what I can to do repel the older gen! I got dash kit, indiglos, CF shifter...hmmm, maybe some VTEC or Mugen stickers and a loud ass muffler will do the trick.

No placebo effect on me...my car is pretty quiet when pushing it hard. You're right about the engine noise coming out closer to the passenger cabin, I think the hood creates some kinda resonance and makes it louder...the sound is waaaaaaay different from stock too...not sure what an aftermarket intake should sound like but this is pretty loud. The downpipe should tone it down a bit.
