brakes

Is there any way to improve the responsiveness (if thats a word) of the brakes in my cam??? Like i want the brakes to be triggered on a lite touch, rather than pushing the brake half way till i feel it slow down. BTW my break pads are fine, and i think i might buy a pair of cross drilled and slotted rotars soon, but i would still want to make it more responsive

I hear that replacing the stock rubber brake lines with braided ones will help for that.

high performance pads (kvr or whatever), slotted rotors, so you always have fresh pad making contact

and you might want to bleed the system, maybe replace the fluid with dot 5 or that high temp ford stuff

Not trying to stop you or discourage you by any means at all, but on a side note, stainless steel brake lines will not actually improve your braking performance (ex. won't reduce how long it takes your brakes to stop your car.) But since from the sounds of things you want more responsiveness from the brakes, then yes, definetly invest in some stainless steel brake lines. What they will actually do is "firm up" the brake pedal feel, so in other words, like a short-throw shifter is to a tranny, ss lines are to brakes. Your braking will feel more positive and *ahem* "precise." See, your stock rubbery lines give your brake pedal that mushy-like feel because the pressure from the master brake cylinder on the brake fluid causes your stock lines to flex somewhat, which sometimes causes a slight disturbance in the force (beginning to sound like Star Wars here :P). Stainless steel brake lines, however, are not as easily flexed, so the force and pressure running through it is basically able to travel all the way through the line, without having to deal with all these lil movements the rubber lines would cause otherwise.

Phew!

I just had my drums/shoes entire rear braking repalced along w/ evening out the front rotors and new kvr pads. However my breaking is stil very sluggish and i feel that i have to put alot of force down to stop the car and also keep it stopped at red lights. If i start to ease on teh brakes but still have it somewhat depressed, the car will start to roll foward.

Is this a symptom of a leaky brake master cylinder? I see a small amount of fluid leaking from where the master cylinder connects to the power brake booster.

I can't tell if its because of faulty master cylinder, faulty brake booster or if camry's are just like this?

Also, does neone else get a rubbing kind of sound when u release the brakes slowly? It sounds like it comes from the back.

Thanks Alll

Jeff
