Gauge Cluster Swap

Hey guys,

After an Indiglo Installtion gone horribly wrong, my fuel/temp gauge has gone caput. So now, I think my only option is to change my entire cluster since I have no idea what is wrong and it would probably be cheaper than hunting down just the fuel/temp section.

If I change my gauge cluster (or instument panel, I don't know the exact term), I know that my odometer reading will be different so I have two questions.

1. Is there a way to set my new odometer to read the same as my old one?

2. My gauge cluster doesn't have gear selector indicators (and yes, it's an automatic transmission), so if I were to get a cluster with the indicators, would my car's wiring support it?

Thanks for your help.

if you have only the gas and temp guages broken then just buy a cluster of your gen 5 and just put them back in.. if the others the speedometer and the rev meter is not broken then leave.. i think ur's is digital now? so its hard to change the milage on the computer .. you can try ebay for your gen5 guage clusters..

then switch it.. hope that helps...

Joey

p.s here's a link its pretty expensive but that all depends how bad you need it

thanks for the reply and it's a gen 4 that i have. i think you have your gens mixed up a bit, but you did provide a link to the correct instrument cluster. the thing is though, as i asked in my second question, will my car's wiring support that instrument cluster that has gear indicators since my current cluster doesn't have a gear indicator section. would it still work?

as for that being expensive, ha! i called my toyota dealer and they want to sell me just the fuel/temp gauge section for $265 dollars. for the entire instrument panel, organ donation was discussed briefly and my interest in it was immediately diminished i'd gladly pay 125 for a used replacement, as opposed to $600+ for a new one from the factory.
