Question 98 Camry w/ Manual Seats - driver's seat is VERY loose

Guys,

My brother's got a 98 Camry with an unusual problem. Under acceleration and braking, the seat rocks forward and backward. It's bolted the the floor very securely, and I can see that it's the seat height adjustment that's the problem. When looking under the seat, you can see that there's tons of slop in the arms that go from the floor mounts to the seat frame, like there's a plastic bushing that's missing or something.

Is this a known problem, and is there a good exploded view I can use to find the part? Any preferred sites for ordering interior bits?

Thanks,
Crit

There might ultimately be no real way to do a proper fix, i think i'd swap for a junkyard seat

Check the Body Section, page 99/100 for an exploded view. Once there, do a search for “manual seat” for more.

if the seat is bolted in securely... take it out (4 bolts and a plug) and shake the brackets a little while the seat is upside down... you will find out where the problem is.. and then just do something to fix it... or get some new seat rails... or a junk yard seat IF it comes to that.
