I think it is pretty similar to gen 3. 6x9 removal is a bit of a pain in the ass. But you do have to take out your rear seats. I can't give you specific step by step directions because I have a gen 3 and I don't know if it is the same. But hope this helps.

I guess I'll just mess around and tinker with it or wait until I get the service manual
Dan
If you are a tinker-er, you'll be able to figure it out without the manual. This is how it goes on the Gen3s. I'm pretty sure its similar for the Gen4s. Yank the seat up, which would expose two bolts holding the side bolsters in. Take out those bolts and remvove the bolters. Fold down your seats, and remove two small screws. This should give you enough room to get to the speakers. If not, pop off the highmount stop light cover and remove the whole shelving. Good luck.

lol yall had to take out your rear seats???? I didnt =) the board that covers your speakers is bendable and you just have to know how to do it right without cracking the board which I've had my read deck out about 6 times now and when I take it out again im puttin in my Pioneer 4 ways and reinsolating my rear deck cause lol my 15 inch solo baric just shook my deck silly... but once i get done I will have no rattles in the inside of my car so I'll be happy again...

What kind of insulation are u planning on using on ur rear Deck? I have some Infinity 6 X 9 's in mine and it vibrates when I give 'em too much juice. Where do you get the insulation at? Would Dynamat work?
RAAMaudio who posted on this forum a couple of times has some really good mat. Dickson has installed it in his whole trunk and is satisfied with it and I have it in my trunk lid only.
Basically any good sound mat will do. If you can afford Dynamat go for it. Otherwise this guy's stuff is a very good alternative. Do you know how much you need? Depends on how many layers you want to apply.

I agree with speedemn RAAMat is a great alternative to dynamat. Plus they recently introduce a new thicker mat offering. The RAAM60, its supposed to insolate more. You may want to check out http://www.soundillusions.net, check their for sale forum. They announced a huge groupbuy for raamat, excellent prices. I will most likely be picking up a roll.
well guys as for dynamat its excellent when trying to prevent rattles....but camrys are well insulated unless you have those license plate covers that rattles like crazy... but to prevent the spaekers from rattling if you dont have a custom harness which I wouldn't know where to get one from unless you make your own, my car would already have it in my deck but what I used was 2 towels....basically they were small ones so I put one on one half of the hole and the other on the other half of the ho... so its a soft cushin and it never rattles... or you could use the cotton out of a pillow case.. or a sponge but you would hvae to cut it and have it around the speaker so it sits firmly in the hole and again with no rattles... it saves alot of money and hassles but I love my setup and i also insulated the whole deck with more cotton from a pillow case... that is very helpfull to prevent your 6x9's from rattling against the plastic grill thats attached to the cover cause the little stock insulation aint good enough for my 15 inch solo baric =)
I wanted to take out my rear fill, and before I go all out and take out the seats and everything, is there any easier way?
What is the best way to take out the 6x9's in the gen 4 camry? It looks fairly invasive, and I just wanted some tips before I dived in.
Thanks again
Dan
If you want it done PROPERLY, you need to 1) take the rear bench seat out, 2) remove the rear side armrests by removing the 14mm bolts, 3) take the C-pillar panels off, 4) remove the 3rd brake light cover by going into the trunk and push up the clips that holds it down, and finally, 5) flex the rear deck up and towards you to get it loose. Then, your 6x9's are exposed.
