DANGIT!!! Stinkin' p0441 & p0446 again!
Well, I think I have my answer, I read the I/M monitors again... still not happy, I checked the codes and I have 441 and 446 pending again. I did figure out this weekend that I need to use the 2002 FSM for my 2001's Evap Emission system because Toyota switched to the late, intrusive-type of Evap system in 2001 and evidently the manual had already been printed. The coil resistance parameters that I had been going by I believe are different than the 2002's parameters so I need to re-check all three of them. I read somewhere in one of the forums that the PCM reads the resistance of the VSVs and can determine if one is bad; do you know if this is true?
The tank holds a good vacuum so I know there are no leaks in the tank. I cannot find any leaks in the canister and I know the Vapor Pressure Sensor tests good. There are two other switching valves mounted on the canister that are not electrically operated. I don't really have a good way to test them; I tried what was in the Haynes and FSM but it is not very clear. Anyway I am befuddled! All seems to be well with the possible exception of needing to recheck the VSVs again. I can hear the Evap VSV cycling and if I jump it and the CCV VSV I can draw air through the canister and if I then also jump the VSV for Pressure Switching Valve I can draw a good vacuum on the fuel tank. Man, what else is there?
