Abnormally high idle 3S-FE
Hey guys need a hand here:
Every once in a while when I start the car (1988 camry wagon 4cyl. auto) the idle is abnormally high. It never seems to come down to where it should be(no tach, base model), I just go by sound.
It doesn't stall or anything when I drive like this, I just can tell that its not running quite right.
When I get under the hood and rev the engine manaully by hand the engine will rev normally and then sharply drop off when I let off. It doesn;t come down nice and easliy like it should.
When I turn the A/C on, only at idle in neutral, the engine will idle up then drop in RPM's and almost cut off, this will continue until I turn the A/C off.
Like I said these symptoms will only occur once in a while. Once they go away the car runs like a top.
I hope that all that made some sence to someone. I was thinking that it might me the IAC valve. However it comes and goes. Its gone more often than its present. I can't find a pattern in it at all.
