Tuneup on '97 Camry 4 cyl

I recently purchased a '97 Camry LE 4 cyl, and although it ran fine when I got ita couple of months ago (by the way, it has 204k miles), recently it has started hesitating upon initial acceleration if I try to accelerate hard, then it kind of catches up, and runs fine. This also caused the engine light to come on. Mechanic ran diagnostics and said it needed a major tuneup which included plugs, wires, coil and crank sensor. He said all cylinders were misfiring a bit.

I looked under the hood the other day, and couldn't even tell where the spark plugs were! I am pretty mechanically inclined, but my question is, how difficult is it to change these items out on your own? Are the plugs hidden away somewhere so you can't easily get to them? I haven't purchased a Haynes manual for it yet, but I plan to today.

Thanks.

A tune up should be easy enough, suggest getting the Haynes book first before going ahead. Be sure to get one covering this year of car as things change a little between years.

Obtaining the exact trouble code from the mechanic will help you fix the problem.
