Canada What to look for upon delivery of a new car?

I just purchased a new Camry, and this being my first car purchase I want to know what things should I look out for when I pick up the vehicle from the dealer? How many KMs is acceptable on the odometer? etc.

Thank you

Upon receipt of the car the dealer should have inspected it for obvious damage, which would have been noted. Look for body, paint and interior damage due to shipping. Make sure the car has every thing listed on the invoice plus options and that everything works.

The number of miles would depend on where the car came from. In the US typically a truck delivers the car to the dealer, thus this should be minimal. Sometimes dealerships trade cars and the car is driven from one location to the other. How many km’s were on the car when you picked it up?

Do you think there is something wrong with the car?

I pick it up this weekend and I don't anticipate anything to be wrong. It's a new 09 that they had to source from another dealer. I was just wondering what to be on the look out for.

Thanks for the tips.

A few more newbie questions:

1.When is the right time to have the car waxed (etc?). Should I wait till next spring?
2.If I buy a can of Scotch guard for the seats will that damage the cloth?
3.Anyone have experience with the 3M paint protection plastic for the front?
4.What is the best/proper method to break-in the vehicle?

Thank you.

1) You can definitely wax it soon as the paint is cooked on and has probably been done since at least a month ago. Otherwise, before next winter is definitely safe. 2) No 3) I heard it's good. 4) start slow, stop slow for the first 1000km (600 miles) I'm getting my 09 Camry LE in July, I had a 99 CE for 7 years with minimal problems (mostly brakes).

Thanks!
Funny, I never got the modding bug with my previous Camry (and don't plan to catch it with this one either), I have a 92 Miata and that's where I concentrate my modding impulses...

Looking forward to the new car!
