Intermediate Pipe bent

My 2002 camry started producing a funny sound while giving gas. I suspected it is due to a faulty exhaust. I took it to the dealer, they told me my intermediate pipe is bent, and it could have happened if I hit like a snow bank or something during backing up. Anyway, they straightened it up, and the car is not producing the same sound yet. However, the dealer told me I have to get a new intermediate pipe else the oxygen sensor everything can go bad and the dealer quoted me 1000$.

Do I have to replace it? or r the dealers trying to rip me off??

The pipe is really expensive from the dealer.

An exhaust shop could easily repair it, or just replace the section that's bent.

Since your intermediate pipe is already bent, it can stay longer until 2-3months. You can buy a cheap aftermarket intermediate pipe for the replacement in ebay or some autoparts shop.
