Alright, before anyone says anything... Yeah, I did a search, but couldn't find anything that was exactly what I was looking for...
Anyways... I'm about to intall a short ram, but before I went out and permanetly f'd up something, I figured I'd ask about advice for the installation and some pointers on what NOT to do.
yeas a CAI is definetely better, i have one too. but look at Meisner's (a guy on these boards) homepage, it has proper instructions for installing a short ram intake. its not hard to do at all, you wont stuff anything up. and the hissing sound you will here is normal (just make sure there isn't any air leaks though).
arcasmachineracing.any pics of ur cai.cause iam gunna make 1 for my 99 v6 i already have the injen.any info would be great
like how much piping would i need..
The "hissing" sound is only really loud when the car is cold... once it warms up you can bearly hear it at Idle.... then when you punch the gas you can really hear it at 4,000K + ... sounds so good!
ya. i just put a ractive short-ram in my camry. Sounds soooo sick i think. ALthough myne isnt mounted to stable. it kinda suspends in the air i need some sorta bracket to mount it better from vibrations and such. Is the way i got it in there normal or wut??

his opinion happens to be fact though
shoot whenever I turn on my ac I get hissing. Don't notice it with the cai as much as when I had a short ram. Before I trunked my battery my short ram was useless, after I moved it into the trunk it actually did something. so if all you can get is a short ram, move your battery out of its way.

if you move the battery you might as well put some custom piping to make it a cai... and obviously the lower it's located the better (heat travels upwards), just make sure you have a bypass valve. I don't really have a "par" on modifications, as I don't have any, but you could at least get parts that would actually help performance rather than hurt it.
