hand brake light one

hi there... just the other day i drilled a hold thru my firewall to install booty call ( which worked fine btw) but eversince my brake light has been on (i have a 92 XLE ) and its the hand brake that near the brake.. kinda looks like a clutch u know what i mean ?? i pull the lever all the way and it seems though that the brakes are all the ay up , this is really bothering me casue i cant tell wheter i have the brakes on or there off shrug can someone pls help me thanks so much =]
