Need to buy a new steelie

I need to buy a new steel wheel for my Gen 2 because my spare one is rusted and won't hold air.

I often don't drive in places where I'll risk earning myself a flat, but I do like the idea of having a safe to use spare.

The dimensions on the wheel are as follows:
14" rim X 5.5" wide
5 Lug pattern.
100 mm lug offset.

Anyone got any ideas of where I can find one, or if they have an extra one laying around that they would be willing to sell?

Get the right rim. As was noted in another thread, the rim needs to be hubcentric, that is, the center hole in the rim needs to be a close fit to the hub, because that's what carries the load, not the wheel studs.

If you were to use a rim intended for a Honda or a Nissan or something else on your Toyota, without a spacer ring, you could get into big trouble when the studs snap off and the wheel rolls away to freedom.

It should be no problem at all to find the right used rim in a junkyard, and with any luck it'll even have a good tire of the right size still on it, making the job even easier. Junkyards often do things differently, but around my neck of the woods, most junkyards just put the wheels off the car in the trunk, so the wheels you're looking for are easy to find...just look in the trunk of the right kind of car!

I'd love to go junk yard hunting in my area, but the problem is that they are so damned expensive to go to. Like in Deptford, NJ... it's $15 per person just to take a "guided" tour of the place.

I went to a junk yard in Tampa, Florida over the summer and it was only 2 bucks per person to go in. It rocked. I took apart the front ends of three different cars just because we could.

I'll look around though. I'm bound to find something.

I've never heard of a junkyard that charged admission before!

Some of the yards around here are strictly "no customers in the yard without escort and only employees can pull ANY parts" while others are still "Bring your own tools and go nuts but don't steal anything or nobody will ever find your body". But none of them charge you a dime unless it's for some part you're buying. They're generally happy to let you do anything you want except to strip parts off of good doors. That's generally a no-no unless they have a lot more of those doors than they can sell.
