I have a 1995 CAmry DX 5spd. I ran a 17.4 with 18's in the back and 16" rims in the front. I also had my spare and i think i also had my subs. I had stock pipping with a 2 1/4 y pipe at the end. My exhausts shouldn't have helped me out much. I also had the car lowered with Sprints. If you lwoer your car you're able to get better launches allowing for lower 1/4 times. I used to run 17.7's with stock everything just a short ram intake and stock 16" rims. I'm going to go back with 2 1/4 full cat back exhaust and try to find some light 17"s to see if i can break the 16's!!

Wow, I didnt know Camrys were that slow, my 300zx does 1/4 in 13.001 @ 112 (traction problems) 60-ft time was 2.182 and my 1/8 mile was 8.583

I have not timed my Camry yet, and i dont think i will either...to embarrasing to take to the track!!

It seems to me that one of the major things slowing down the potent Camry is its weight. Love 'em or hate 'em, those things are pretty fat.

If you're willing, one of the cheaper "free" mods you could do that might improve your 1/4 mile times is weight reduction. Increase that power to weight ratio!

Ya know, gut the interior, remove passenger and rear seats....virtually remove all the creature comforts and anything that would allow someone to recognize it as a Camry interior.

racerhex is probably the man to ask about this, but I wonder how reasonable it is to start doing some REAL weight reduction like cutting off parts of the frame...is there anyway to be assured of the structural stability at that point?

One thing you have to remember about Camrys is that the ECU adapts to your driving style, but it takes a couple of days before it's in tune with the way you drive.

If you want to take it to the drag strip, you need to punch it hard several times a day, every day, for several days before you go to the strip. This will SUBSTANTIALLY improve your throttle response and overall times.

If you drive like you're sane, the ECU won't give you the best possible throttle response.

Drive like a granny, it'll optimize for granny driving. Drive like a nutcase, and it'll go nuts with you.

Try it out. You will notice the difference in a matter of days.

The difference between "granny mode" and "nutcase mode" can be described (if you have the V6 motor) graphically:

I usually drive like a "grandma " because lack of money for gas but when i have a full tank holy shit get off the roads!!! although that ecu thingy might work because i was beatin it for like a week and then i raced a RSX type S and i kept with him so i have no clue either he was a bad driver or my car is weird. what about the octane boost shit does that really work. my friend did it and he said his car was smoking because it was so hot and since i need this car i don't want to blow it up and be like shit i still have to pay for the damn thing and i have no car. I was gonna buy that NOZZZ shit but i don't know like i said need the car everyday.
