Question Applying Touch-up Paint

I just bumped my door on the lattice board in my car port. It stripped the paint off on the top edge of my drivers door. Strange that soft flexible wood stripped it down to the primer. This is the first damage to my new car.

Any idea as to what might work best to touch this up? Match stick, brush, paper towel, and so forth? The Toyota touch-up paint comes with the pen top, do those work?

Thanks in advance for any tips!

Use the brush that's attached to the cap.

You can always wet sand and buff it after you fill the area of the scratch with touch up paint.

Should I also apply clear coat? I bought the touch-up paint and it says apply clear coat after 24 hours, but the dealer book says it is not needed.

You can if you want, but it's not needed.

I tried it once and it looked worse with the clear touch up on it.

I grabbed a copy of the Toyota Customer Services Touch-Up Paint book from a co-worker. No touch-up paint colors available on the Camry require clear coat.

Black Sand Pearl on the Corolla needs the clear coat. For future reference here is the part number information on the clear coat:

For vehicles needing clear coat on top of color, use part # 00258-0000C-21.

Hope this puts this to rest as I have noticed other threads on this topic.
