3S-FE/GE upgrades...

I've been searching around quite a bit in the forums trying to find info. I've begun to plan a massive rebuild of my engine in my 3S-FE Gen. 2. I've read alot about how we can take the exhaust head from a 3S-GE, and put it on the 3S-FE, and take the cylinders out of a GE, and put them in the FE.

What else would I have to do to make it into a "transformed 3S-GE"??? I'd eventually like to get a ct-26 turbo, and somehow intercool it all, but I want to rebuild my motor first before starting any FI stuff.

Here's my questions as of right now:
1. How much power would I really be able to see from the replacement of the F cylinder heads with the G cylinder heads?
2. Same as above, except replacing the exhaust manifold.
3. What kind of price range am I looking at with this stuff?
4. Simplicity? Can I do this myself in a day or so? Does it require actually pulling the engine from the bay?

I took a small engines class in 9th grade so I'm VERY familiar with the inner workings of an engine. Would it be wise to replace all of the internals while I'm at it? I'd like to keep my original engine block in there. I don't want to really get into swapping a whole block out, just upgrading my current block.

Also where can I find decent 3S-GE parts, either brand new, or scrapped parts?

i doubt you'll see much from putting on a ge head and exhaust

what you should be looking at is finding an exhaust and turbo from a 3sgte, bolt on, oil lines and you're done 5-7psi is safe and gives seat of the pants difference

Well I plan upon doing the turbo next summer, however I wanted to maybe get the jump on rebuilding my engine a bit just so I get more life out of it, and still maybe up performance just a hair.

Basically like early preparation. I'd like new cylinders, and new exhaust to be broken in before adding a turbo... y'know?

new cylinders? do u mean new pistons?

if you want to get into preping for the turbo your best bet is to start looking at a standalone fuel system that can handle boost, i would highly recomend the megasquirt system if you have ne electronic expericnce or friends wiht it or if u r patient, after you do that you will be pretty much ready to boost after a new fuel pump and new injectors, this will make the head swap easier too.

u could get forged pistons and rods too if you want to go over 7-5 psi, but if i were u i would just turbo it now, see if your happy wiht the 5-7 psi. if your not then start lookin into forged internals.

actually if you want to go with forged internals you should look into swaping in a 92 or earlier 5sfe block. this wil bump you motor up to a 2.2 l. theres two reasons for going with the 92 block.
1) the water ports match up so you dont have to do machine work
2) the pistons are forged, will that is if its original pistons, if you get new pistons from toyota and are just like get me some pistons for my 92 5sfe there just get you new 5sfe pistons that arent forged

a 5sfe block with a 3sge head on it turboed should be able to run 7psi pretty safely, the 3sge head with the 2.2 l block should give you some nice pre boost power

If you're going to eventually turbo the engine. Then why not instead scavange parts from a 3sgte? Its built stonger and there are differences. This way, your motor is better prepped to handle boost.
