Question on Toyota OEM anticoolant

Hello everyone.

I got my car serviced at a Toyota dealer a few months ago and noticed recently the anti coolant is green instead of pink.

Does anyone know if Toyota changed the anti coolant to another type recently? Since I bought the car in 98 I have always noticed the pink stuff in the reservoir.

Thanks!

They gave you something other than genuine toyota anti freeze - make them change it. My wife just had hers done on her 2002 Lexus ES300 a month ago at the dealer and it is REDDISH PINK. I have a new 2009 Camry with the 100,000 mile anti-freeze and it is almost clear.

I've never heard of "anti coolant". It's either referred to as coolant or antifreeze.

In '98 there wasn't pink antifreeze, it was red. Red coolant is Toyota Long Life antifreeze.

Toyota has been using pink Super Long Life coolant since the mid 2000's. It comes premixed, unlike the red Long Life coolant which comes straight.

You never stated what kind of service they did. Did they flush the cooling system or just top it off with green while having other service?

I'd recommend flushing the cooling system and installing the correct Toyota Long Life antifreeze.

sorry about the wording. I did mean coolant. i got the words coolant and antifreeze mixed in my head.

I checked my paperwork and it was a 30,000 mile service that included draining and replacing coolant. They charged me 19 bucks for the stuff.

Ill go find out what happened. Thanks everyone!

IMO, your fine but why would Toyota use another brand of coolant? Like said, Toyota's version is RED, but when you mix it in distill water, it lightens and can look like pink in the coolant reservoir.

The good thing about Toyota's coolant is they don't have borate, silicate and all that crap. But of course it only matters IMO if you baby your car. It would suck if you or the dealer put regular heavy metaled tap water in your system.

Working on the camry was the easiest sh8t ever for the coolant change. I didn't even need to jack the car and just did a few drain and refill. No problems here, in fact I think the temp needle is 1 - 2 degrees lower than usual. LOL !!!

To me the colour doesn't matter, that's just the marker.

It doesn't matter to you because you don't know what you're talking about. It's not just a marker. Do some research.

According to you, DexCool, conventional, Toyota Long Life, and Toyota Super Long Life are all the same but just a different color?

Brilliant.
