woah....now that's interesting......I've had my low beams altered to fit the 9005 bulbs now for about a year, and I've never had that problem.....

I do notice that my bulbs burn out faster than if I had kept them as 9006 bulbs, but that's it....

what kind of bulbs are you using?
and if this keeps on happening, maybe you shouldn't do it then :p

That is strange... I've had mine done that way for more than a couple years and I've only replaced one since I put the SilverStars in over a year ago.

The 9005 is a mm or so smaller than the 9006, did you put the additional retaining ring on from the old 9006 bulb? ...without the extra ring you could have vibrated them to death and it was just coincedence that they went at the same time.

Did you touch the bulb? You probably didn't, but I had to ask. I have Piaa 9006's and the instructions say to never ever shut the car off and cycle the lights on and off. If I turn the car off and then the lights it says not to turn the lights on again until the car is started again. Does this same rule apply with the 9005's?
