Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum and i think this is a great community.I have a 99 camry ce automatic v4.My problem is that when i am accelerating and when the speed changes(like i think from 1st gear to second)its a very hard switch.By that i mean there is a rough pull.I have taken it to the dealership and the mechanic said there's nothing wrong with it.
I certainly think its not supposed to be like this.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
KENNETH
BTW, it's an Inline-4, I4/L4, but not V4. How many miles do you have on your car, and when's the last time you changed the transmission oil. Lastly, when's the last time you did a transmission flush?

It can be a sign of your tranny about to die. Rough shift(s) can mean pistons not moving smoothly, making your clutch packs engage roughly. This can prematurely wear your clutch packs and clog up the hydraulics. Then you have no shifts, in worst cases, the car will not engage in any gear. (This happened to our family van, and my sister's car is having the same symptoms. It's just a matter of time, so I tell her not to floor it often)
Slamming your car into drive after backing up, without stopping first can mess it up too, not instantaneously, but it'll run fine for a long time, and suddenly it'll die, from what the driver did a long time ago.
But hey, if it runs fine now, there's nothing your mechanic can do about it.
BTW i bought the car at 120k and i hope the previous owner has all the maintenamce done.I love this car and this is the only problem.I think i will take it to another dealership to get it checked out.
Thanx for all your help daffunda.
Regards,
KENNETH
If I were you, I wouldn't waste money on something that still does what it's supposed to do. You'll waste more money that way. They could take it apart and diagnose it, but you'd be paying for it, and there is no guarantee that it'll last after that.
Just wait until it dies, any tranny will eventually, it might last another 100000 miles, who knows, and then deal with it.
Hi,
I did some search on the internet and found this article .
I hope this article will help other people who experience this problem.
