I just got the Haynes repair manual for my 92 Camry LE. It is suggesting some things that I KNOW havent been done for,... well, ever. Like adjusting the valve clearance, changing the timing belt, PCV valve every 60,000 miles. Mines at 122,000 now as it is...

Should I do those things? Where can I take my car where I know they will do somthing like a valve adjustment right? The dealer?

Well thanks for whatever advice you have.

I have a 94 V6 Camry and I just did my major tuneup at 200,000km. From memory, this is what was changed:

-PCV valve
-Timing belt
-Accessory belts
-Spark plugs
-Head gasket
-Throttle body cleaned
-Pulley bearings replaced
-Engine shampooing
-Cooling system flush

and some more things i cant really remember.

latez.

I'm getting my tranny rebuilt as we speak

Seriously, change any fluid you can thing of (ie. coolant, brake, ATF etc..) I would HIGHLY recommend switching to synthetic ATF and possibly motor oil (debatable topic) if you can afford to. Next- plugs, belts, filters (air, fuel) and gaskets. Finally, Engine flush (also a debatable topic), tranny flush, injector cleaning, throttle body service and lube the entire car.

Avoid getting raped by the dealer if possible. If you're located in T.O. the shop below is frequently recommeded and is where Ratko did his tune-up and my tranny is being rebuilt.

Just a quick note on the timing belt, you might want to get it done. If it is at 122,000 MILES and never been done then I'm surprised it hasn't snapped yet. I'm willing to bet that the timing belt was changed way back at 60000 - 80000 miles. (I'm assuming you are from the US here)

Big time! Change it before you get stranded cuz once it snaps you will have no warning just before that.
