Well ladies and gentlemen, I have just applied for a job, Im DAMN sure I am getting it. I will officially own my 1993 Toyota Camry LE with the 5S-FE engine, on March 5th, 2002. So I say to myself, "Self, wouldn't it be nice to plan my Camry out, to see what I am going to have to save money wise?" The anwser was YES! So I figure, I should post my plans to the toyotanation.com fourm, and see what this faukers can help me with, and give me suggestions. So lets see.

First off, I will start with the Erebuni Shogun body kit, all around. I am confused on what I plan to odo as far as suspension, but it seems that Intrax springs and KYB struts are on the mind of us all. (I think that last statement was off, let me know) After that, its onto the wheels. I like the Toyo T1S tires with a set of 18's called Detata I saw at ToyotaPart4U.com... after that it is on to the exterior, with Clear Tail Lights, custom fitted projector head lamps (unless we get them from some company)... side markers wired as blinkers. The color of this wonderful ride will be Tangelo, which is a brilliant Organe... just because. Black flame graphics will grace the hood and fenders, while the doors and sides are completely shaved of handles and moldings. AutoLoc's will be installed to grant access to the Orange and Blakc enterior. Celica seat will be custom fitted, and fabriced to fit the scheme. A VERY VERY Custom gauge set will tell me how far over the limit I am going. As for the internals, Weapon R intake, Headers from turbo-performance.com and good ole Custom dual exhaust. Now I know it is a fact that dual exhaust will releive too much back pressure, but I am adding resistance to each pipe, and dynoing the car to find out how much resistance is needed. This will make it possible to stretch as much HP out of the vehicle, with out losing the need back preasure.

I would like to know what you all have to say about this. Skip the, "I hate Orange post" cause that is prefrence. If you could help me with the performance aspect and anything else, it would be a huge help.

Thank's a bunch!!

robsolete, if you are talking about TRUE dual exhaust, ie dual pipes all the way, then don't even think about it. The 5S-FE is way too weak no matter what you do to try to compensate.

In fact, even getting headers + cat-back on a stock 5S-FE engine will lose low end torque because it simply isn't powerful enough to create enough back-pressure.

Unfortunately you have no choice but to stay relatively conservative in modding a stock 5S-FE Camry engine. Here is what I would recommend:

1. cat-back
2. headers (if you can live with loss of low end torque... I know I can't)
3. GOOD intake (I don't know what makes an intake "good" because I just have the stock one, but it is easy to lose low end again, if your intake design is bad)
4. underdrive pulley (will help your top end, without jeopardizing low end)
5. 5-spd conversion (if you can fork out the cash, this is your most cost-effective mod)
6. cams (again, if you can fork out the cash)
7. port and polish ($$$ again)

That's all I can think of for now. Good luck. You know my S/N I'm sure, since you talk to me every damn day! lol

I don't know of any more besides the old Gen2 that got stolen, Justin and this orange one. The only reason why I recall this one is because I LOVE the colour, not to mention the engine, guages, wheel etc...as well. If I ever decide to paint my car (not likely) I'd paint it Acura CL gold

The Gen3 2.2s seem weak but I am still looking for that perfect update to my car...I am looking at the TRD SUpercharger meant for the Solaras...maybe that will give it the boost....

TRD S/C on a 5S-FE ??? um no... theres 2 extra runners... If you like a s/c I would definitly go with a Vortech unit.. with the torque of the 5S-FE and high rpm power of a Vortech unit. Dude, that would be a awesome set up, espicially after some head work...
