A single click is usually an indicator of bad contacts in the starter's solenoid. This has been covered numerous times. Do a search on this forum for "starter contacts" and read up on the problem and it's possible cures. You can varify this problem by tapping on the starter's solenoid while someone holds the key in the start postion. If the starter now turns, you have varified this problem.

If you are getting multiple rapid clicks, this usually indicates a weak battery, poor or corroded connections at the battery or starter, or bad cables between the battery and the starter. If the battery is weak, you need to check out the entire charging system; battery, alternator and alternator belt.

Tap the solenoid itself. It's the little cylinder shaped object on top of the much larger cylinder shaped object. The much larger cylinder shaped object is the starter itself. They sit horizontially and are located on the front of the engine block on the driver's side. Give it a good tap, but not hard enough to break it or crack it. If it begins to crank this way, yes it will start.

If it's bad solenoid contacts, that usually makes it crank. Did you hit the solenoid fairly hard? Have you checked the battery cables at the battery terminals for tightness and possible corrosion? Have you tried jump starting it from another vehicle?

I had the same problem. If I did it enough times it eventually cranked. It was the starter.
