I'm gonna be getting new bulbs from BLUEMEANIE (thanks again eric), and since I'm in there I figured I'd give the inside of the headlamps a good cleaning.
How/with what do you guys clean them with? I'm not interested in clearing them out, just for better visibility since the weather is getting worse here..
well, if you're not clearing them out, then I'd have to say that you're gonna have a hard time cleaning out just the lens. All you've got to work with is the small hole where the bulb fits.
If by cleaning out you mean flushing some kinda of detergent into the entire lens to get the dust, dirt, etc out, then perhaps just a simple washing detergent would do. I've never done something like this before, so don't follow my ideas if you think it might do some harm.
To gain access to the whole lens for some "wiping", you'd have to remove the lnes from the housing, which requires baking the entire unit in the oven. I can't remember what the temperature setting is, but I know its for no longer than 10 mins. It's been done before...check the "clearing out" threads.
ouch, yea.. thats way more trouble to wipe than its worth.. they dont even look *that* dirty anyways..
i guess no one really cleans them out unless it gets really bad
hey, i had the same problem on my 93. The lens gets all foggy right. If thats what it is, then its weathering and you are in luck my friend, because thats all on the outside. I buffed the outside of my headlights and it improved visibility quite a bit.

be sure to use the paste type of tooth paste just plain ol tarter control paste. The gel stuff won't work and any kind of whitening stuff is too abrasive.
...after i did the tooth paste thing I used a Miguars plastic polish for headlights (99¢ for a litle one time use pouch at Autozone) and buffed them til they looked new

kewl thanks folks.. I'll keep an eye out for the plastic polish.. I'll brush my lamps when I get a chance.. Eric, here's what your Cool Blues look like right now.. Thanks again!
I'm goin to use my electric toothbrush and use the head that my ex used.. mmuuaahahahahaha
as far as buffing goes I just used an abrasive (gritty) Wax and rubbed it on with an applicator then just use a buffer and buff it in to the headlight. Then use like a regular car wax and wax it again periodically to keep them from getting like that again
