revs go up/down when bass hits?

what is the cause of this, it was happening a fair bit today on the drive home from work, more than i've ever noticed before. i got a new alternator (same amps as before) day before yesterday. also the car is a tad harder to start than before. any thoughts?

hmm...i would definately be checking that alternator. has the correct alternator been fitted or have they stuffed up?

i am guessing that you are running a fairly powerful stereo..two amps???

it may have been a good idea to upgrade the alternator as the stereo may be draining too much power. also, id use a multi meter to test the current from the battery and also at the amps as this could be another problem

You can do that, but if the problem still persists, first check the altenator and if that is not the problem, buy yourself a cap.

Same issue but my needle flickers when I use the turn signal and the needle is b/w 2000 and 3000 rpm or when the intermittent wipers engage

should I check the alternator? as near as i can tell it's the 16 year old original

or is it a loose connection (just did a cluster transplant for one with a tach)

I figured I'd get in on this b/c I have the same problem but it's not the same cause

Steve

It can also be ground wires. I remember reading on some audio forums a while ago that people were having the same issues. Insteed of geting expenise alternators, try a grounding kit. Then cap, then alternator.

i installed the alternator myself, and it's exactly the same as the one i had before, Bosch 70amp, though the pulley is about 5-7mm smaller in diameter.

yeah i've got 2 1000W amps.

i should have got a better alternator, though i needed one that day as the other one crapped itself.

soundlzd, i've been planning to reground the engine, now it gives me an incentive.

also i'll get a cap soonish.

thanks for all the replys.
