Airbag warning light will not illuminate, when turning on ignition

The "airbag" light on my car will not illuminate. Never has the car been in a crash. Could the light have burned out, problem with the airbag, or simply a blown fuse? Of course the owners manual says to take it to the dealer. Any info appreciated.

Thanks. I have searched the Toyota and Lexus forums and all I can find is complaints of the "airbag" light not going off - not once have I seen a complaint of it NOT coming on. I suppose it is one of those "its only a problem on my car" deals.

try the fuse.. its on the left coin box.. behind it is the fuse.. find which one is it and replace it .. if not then it may be the light bulb on the cluster.. you can open it with rayray's diy's.. if that is not it then have a professional look at it..

Hope this helps

Joey

Also the ECU B fuse in the box under hood can stop the light from coming on.

Does this also go for the Lexus- that is the car I am talking about. Sorry- I should have specified. They are basically the same car however. Thanks again.

I just came back in from checking the fuse box under the hood. All of the fuses are fine. I did not see anything listed "ECU B" under there however. I did see something that read "airsus" but I have no clue as to what that is. I will check the fuse under the instrument panel tomorrow.

I also checked the fuse box under the instrument panel and I do not see "airbag" listed on the cover. I guess I will need to get the owners manual out and see which one is for the airbags. Perhaps I will take it to the dealer- since it states that it needs to be checked after 10 years and then 2 years thereafter.

To update- I took the car to the dealer yesterday to have the airbag system checked. Turned out that the previous owner did not want the airbag to deploy in a crash. They had it disconnected and when that made the light illuminate- they had the bulb removed- which is obviously why the light was not illuminating. The dealer installed a new bulb, reconnected the airbag and all is well. They only charged me $34.50 - parts and labor- worked on it for about an hour and a half.
Thanks again for all of the replies.
