Breaking news from a J TRD insider, the new Cam will be getting a supercharger very soon for the V6 and there is plans on the drawing board for one for the 4cyl.
Not much is being said about performance or any exact details, but apparently Greddy will have their hand part of the design.
As more details become more available I let you guys know

Pish posh, tell your insider that I want a 3VZ S/C! BTW, if you're gonna drop a dime on a S/C, why would you have bought the 4 banger?

If torque actually won races, wouldn't we all be driving diesels?
there was something like that said about the aussie v6 camry but the s/c will only be available in the sportivo.
toyota can at least consider having a turbo 4 variant as well or at least tuen it so it produces more power, coz the 4 banger is seriously under powered compared to other makes like honda, that is, for the displacement of a 4 banger camry, honda has more power in their accord euro and in the integra type r, s2k, and prelude.

TN's Aussie Oddity, now with Evo 9 power??
eventually, Toyota will get it right and put 3sgte's in all Camry SE's just like they're putting 2zzfe's in Corolla (starting next year, so says the greatest toyota dealer in Cali)
Then they'll take market share from Honda Accord tuners.
if it is, there is already a 'rolla with that engine in it in australia, its called the sportivo variant. its got the celica 6spd gear box, sports tuned supension and some other stuff, its 141kw like the celica.
i forgot if it had celica brakes and a modified celica exhaust system on it.

yeah 2zz is the current celica gts engine. Here they only put it in the GTS, Matrix and Pontiac Vibe for now. I saw a post on automotiveforums.com that said it was going to be in Canada in April, and folks at the best damn toyota dealer in Cali said once it passes CARB it'll be here in may or june.
Then I drove a regular Corolla and decided to stick with my Cam.
hey oldman, do u mean the 5vz-fe? i've never heard of the 5mz, but i know the 5vz is a 3.4L, available in tacoma's, and 4runners. It's also the engine used in the NASCAR celi.
hmm.....when u say fit, do u mean it will bolt in, and bolt right up to the tranny and all?
interesting, do u think it would work in a gen2 in place of teh 2VZ as well? i think it'd be cool to have a truck engine in there, for all that extra torque.
must be nice to not live in California, where we can't even consider putting a truck engine in a car. You can't put in a 3vz from a 4runner in your camry even if it had a 3vz in it. Maybe Ahnold will fix that.

I can put any engine in it as long as it was made after 7/92 (when my car was built), and as long as it came from a passenger car.
But it is legal to put a JDM passenger car in as long as it is "functionally equivalent" to the engine it is replacing. I think the only mod we have to make to one is to put an EGR in with it. Maybe Wraith knows.
