How can I check engine codes for my 2004 Toyota Camry? My engine is idling roughly. I added a can of fuel injector cleaner. I have the 4-cylinder engine. Thanks in advance, WolfpackRon.
I will get Autozone to read my codes as soon as possible. I do not know if MIL is on. I do not know what MIL is. I am also trying to locate the Idle speed control valve. One post said to clean the ISC which is located on the throttle body. I do not know where either is located. Thanks for the posts. WolfpackRon.

MIL is "Check engine" light. Is it on when your car is running?

MIL = Malfunction Indicator Lamp, sometimes called the check engine light.
You don't have an idle speed control valve. The electronic throttle body controls the engine speed.
Is the MIL on or not? If not, there isn't any reason to read the codes.
How many miles are on your vehicle and what maintenance has been performed?
My 2004 Toyota Camry just turned 100,000 miles. No special maintenance besides oil changes have been made. I replaced the rear brake pads, but not the front pads. It is almost time to change them. I put a bottle of Chevron's Techron fuel injector cleaner in the gas. I still have a rough idle problem. The MIL Light is not on. If I do not have an idle speed control valve is there any thing else to clean to improve idle? What other things should I check. I have not changed plugs or wires. I have not seen any problem with vacuum hoses being cracked or having leaks. Thanks, WolfpackRon.
I will try to clean the throttle body. I found many "how to" posts, but none with good pictorials. Many did suggest not using carb cleaner for various reasons such as damaging seals and TB coatings. Still looking for best instructions for cleaning the TB. Thanks for the post. wolfpackRon.
Get dedicated throttle body cleaner and a nice clean soft rag. Open the throttle blade with your finger and coat the blade and the inside of the throttle body with cleaner. Wipe all the internal surfaces with the rag. Repeat until it's clean. Do not use objects to pry open the blade or hold it open. You don't want to damage any of the surfaces. They are precision manufactured and you don't want to damage any part of the throttle body.
TRD VVTi,
I used a soft cloth and cleaned the throttle body on my 4 cyl Camry. It runs and idles like new. Thanks for the input. I learned something today, where the throttle body is located and how to clean it. Thanks again. WolfpackRon.
