JDM Navigation Question

Hi.

I bought a JDM Nav/CD/Tape/TV radio from RenMike who had it in a 93 Camry. It is now in my 90 Camry DX.

As he told me, the radio is almost all in Japanese (of which i cant understand) and most of its features dont work.

Its supposed to have Navigation, but without map cd's or without the harness for the system (i cant tell which is which)

So can someone explain to me which plug is which on the back of the radio?

I already know 2 are for the original Harness.

Heres a few pics:

Heres a video:

It looks really nice. Was it a perfect fit? How much did it cost you?

You should ask a mod to move this thread to the Gen 2 forum. You would get more responses there.

Well if figured that this Nav came from a 98 Corolla, so moving to the Gen 2 section wont do me any good.

Also newer camrys come equiped with Nav's so maybe someone can tell me what the plugs on mine are used for.

See this thread. The 6, 10 and 12-pin are probably the same.

http://www.supraforums.com/forum/sho...ht=stereo+wire

Now for the operation of the stereo itself.

TV tuner - I think the frequencies are a little different, but the main problem is that TV broadcast is going all-digital in the U.S. from Feb 2009.

FM - FM Frequency range in Japan is from 76 - 90 MHz. I hope your favorite station is between 88 and 90 MHz.

Navigation - I can't think of any Toyotas sold 10 years ago in the US with Navigation. I assume it's CD or DVD-based. If there's a Lexus from the same era with Navaigation, it may or may not work.

AM, Tape and CD should be fully functional once you wire it up.

I have had the radio in the car for like a week now so it is all hooked up...
Heres a video on youtube of it working: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naXj0Vsj5vs

Im not worried about using the TV for broadcast TV, but more for hooking a DVD player or a PS2 up to it.

I have a Frequency extender that allows me to pick up 91-104.

This came out of a 1998 JDM Corolla, so i am assuming thats why it has the 'Naviken S' Map CD Format.

The Radio works fine, i dont use AM so i dont even know if that works, and it functions like it should with the CD player.

Im just really interested in getting the Nav to work and show my actual position, but im wondering which connector in the back is for the GPS locator unit.

Thanks, Mike.

Bump.

No one has seen any of these plugs before? Or knows anything about this Nav Unit?
