93 Camry XLE Overheating

I need some help please. My camry will overheat after driving 35 miles on the freeway The temp gauge will go up to red and then down to 3/4 hot. There is a loud fan noise when it starts to overheat and when I have to run the heat it sometimes will go from hot to luke warm. I had the thermostat and radiator cap replaced last week but did not help. The radiator is 2 years old only. Water pump and timing belt replaced 3 years ago. The fan is working properly with nothing getting in the way. Can it be a air pocket in the system? Any advise would help.

The engine only overheats on the freeway? How about in traffic?

The fan noise could be the radiator coolant fans, they normally are not on when going freeway speeds.

I'm not sure if this has been done but hows the level of the antifreeze in the resevor and the radiator? They might be low. Are you running A/C when it does start to overheat?
