What exactly do mudguards do and how common are they among the members on this forum? Are they generally considered tacky, and if not, is color coded usually the way to go? Can I still have a tight ride sporting mudguards?
Please don't hurt me for asking such stupid questions.

DeLand Toyota (of FL) at any given time has a bunch of auctions on ebay for "mud guards." Plain black starts at $55 for a gen 4.
From your friendly neighborhood dealership they're probably $80+. Conicelli *used* to have them if you searched by the part number, for $75.
Is it really that important to get the color-keyed ones? I always had black on the other cars (admittedly non-Camry) I'd owned, and all looked fine. Keep the car "clean" with color-keyed? Huh?

see, i like that. i think the color coded looks better. did you spray them yourself or did you have em done professionally? if so, how much did they cost and what paint did you need? clear coat etc...

I don't think I've had any mods done professionally, except for my exhaust.
The guards came stock on my V6 LE, and I just painted them using some colour-coded paint from Canadian Tire. $5.99 a can for the paint and clear coat.
