Lightbulb New plans for my cam

As some of you might have known, i had planned on swapping my 5sfe auto to a 3vzfe manual with a turbo. I got a spare wrecked camry and took the 3vz out and even got it completely disassembled for a rebuild. Now, im extremely low on funds for the time being, and i dont have ANY time to do a rebuild. I am completely scrapping this project.

My new plans are as follows...
-Tranny swap
-Turbo 5sfe

I will still swap my auto tranny for a solara e153. Yes i know it will be difficult to get the axles to work. I dont even know what im going to do with the axle situation. I might just try to work it out when i get to that point and maybe have to make a custom part or 2.

Im just gonna do a clean cut turbo setup on the 5sfe. That will include ct26 turbo from a supra which i can get for free, front mount intercooler, all custom piping, trd metal HG, mk4 supra oil and fuel pumps, mr2 map sensor, 550cc supra injectors, greddy emanage(most likely) to deal with all fuel and ignition timing issues, and some other misc. stuff. Im gonna shoot for around 300 fwhp with around 15psi boost after the proper tuning and breaking in and everything(maybe some new parts to replace some old blown ones).

I started polishing the head/valve cover on my 3vz, so i may end up finishing that and selling it. If anyone is interested let me know. Also, if you need any 3vz parts, let me know.

What do you guys think?

That sounds cool. Good luck with it.

You might be able to swap out the front axles and brake systems and get a V6 camry or solara braking system and axles in. That might eliminate the possible conflict of axles.

im probably gonna end up doing it myself. Either that or just spot welding myself, to keep things in place, and having it welded up tight by someone else.

sorry to hear that your not doing the 3vz swap, i was looking forward to that, no doubt you were to...nevertheless your new plans should work out real well so i'll be looking forward to it....goodluck mate

btw, how come you dont keep the 3vz and just work on it gradually....especially after the work you've done on it..

all the best

yeah come to think of it, i think i will keep the engine and keep working on it. A friend of mine has a 92 v6 and her car has about 240k miles on it. I tell her all the time that when her car kicks the bucket, its MINE. so if i keep the engine, i could just swap it into her car when it dies. Good idea Huy. I guess i better not let go all of the work that ive done so far. Sorry Oldman.

Turbo'ed 5sfe? Humm... sounds like my plans... (thanks for the ideas Meisner, also Zoni_Camry, you might wanna chat with him for more info on turbo'ed 5sfe's... etc!) Too bad I can't get boosted anytime soon tho! Do you have the tranny already? Are you going to be 5spd then, or still auto? Go 5-speed if ya can! Man, sounds like a lot of work! If you need an intercooler, I got major connections with a really-new company... "Add-On Racing" who makes custom intercoolers/etc... and could make you one for very cheap! (like a long thin one (don't even start pervs!) ... its more rectanglish then square like...) (or how ever you would want it...) etc... lemme know... well, regardless...

Good luck bro! Hope everything works out for the better! And please take a TON OF PICTURES! Thanks...

Oldman, maybe a hose would be better than a straw? Im sure you can fix it up with somethin from the autoparts store.

About the IC, i think im gonna go with a spearco one like this...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2445738261
from ebay.

If your place will cut me a deal and get me a big unit for like 400-450 bucks, then i would be more than happy to go with your guy. Have him sponsor me, ill put a sticker on my car if he wants or somethin.

na, the straw is a really tight fit, on the inside of the tubes (its a peice of a straw from a juice box)

and duct tape over it to seal it all up, been like that for almost 2 years, damn my clumsy room mate!
