LED's draw less current than a light bulb.

So its thinking that your 3rd brake light is out (the light on the dash).

but the LED lights are 12.5volts... the original is 12volts... does that make any problems as well?

....thx

actually it because the LEDs dont act like a ordinary light bulb so the resistance of that set of LEDs is abnormal to what it would be with a lightbulb........

Am i confusing yoU? if so don't worry about it. it should cause a problem, other than u not knowing when one of ur other bulbs are gone.

Does'nt he need to determine the difference in wattages between both LEDs and incadecent bulbs then wire in a resistor in series?

I think something to that effect should work.

You'd want to wire the resistor in parallel (not series), otherwise you'd have some very dim LED's.

A resistor would work.

LED's draw about 20mA each. So total # of LED's x 20mA = total current draw.

P = I x E

P = power in watts
I = current
E = voltage

Example: you have 20 led's x 20mA = .4 amp

P = .4 x 12
P = 4.8 watts

1156 bulb = 27 watts

27 - 4.8 = 22.2 watts

P = (I x I) x R

P = power in watts
I = current
R= resistance

22.2 = (.4 x .4) x R
22.2 = .16 x R
R = 22.2 / .16
R = 138.75

So for my example you need around a 140 ohm 25W resistor.

math!

thx 88LE

let me check if i can get a 25W resistor....

Same thing happened in my SV21 when I put my wing on it. Except this fried the yellow boxin the back. Shop "repaired" it by soldering up a connection, however everytiumeI click my brakes with the headlights on, the "lights" IL will flash on for a second.

Actually, lastnight my headlights were going off for a second everytime I hit the brakes for a few times. Then the lights light would flicker while the brakes were on, asif it were showign a short beginning...

How can I go into the yellow box, and perhaps sure up this soldered connection a bit more? or eliminate the damn light.
