Insulating a CAI within the engine compartment

I was looking at soem pics of a guy who did a custom CAI (forgot his handle but it looks good) and I noticed that within the engine compartment it's just bare metal. Since the idea is to get the air/fuel mixure as dense as possibel I was thinking that insulating the parts of the air intake tubing that is within the engine compartment might be a good idea.

What are your thoughts on this?

Paint the piping with DupliColor engine enamel or have it ceramic coated.

Hmmmm

I think you're talking more about what would be appropriate with exhaust coatings (like Jet Hot). For cold air intake the temprature differential is lower and also more controllable. I was thinking something along the lines of that foil stuff you can put under your hood, or something similar to what they would insulate your HVAC ducts with.

Actually, once the air is flowing in the pipe, it stays quite cold. I have 2.5" OD Aluminized steel pipe, and if you touch the pipe right after you stop in the summer, it feels quite cold. I did use the Duplicolor Cermaic paint too.

Just my 2 cents.

Thats what I used... check out my CAI thread... I got it in the 'AEM Silver Metallic Color' and it came out looking great, and working even better!

You can use some of those foil heat shielding shit, but it not only looks unsightly, but I think that the ceramic, heat resistant paint is better... PS. I know the guys at JetHot. :p
