My drivers side power mirror wont move up and down anymore. I can only move it left and right. Is the problem from the mirror or something else? Cuz I dont wanna go out and buy a new mirror and have to find that the problem is from something else. I know that the switch is fine cuz I can move my passenger mirror just fine.

Only problem is that the mirrors are connected to the actuator by little prongs that go into the back of the mirror. Getting the mirror off without breaking anything (especially the mirror itself) is almost impossible. I found this out when my mirror got busted off and I wanted to try to replace it with an old one.
yeah if you go to a pull apart you pretty much are forced to get the whole inner assembly including the mirror. Its a motor attached to the mirror basically, I have never done it, but have seen it in a repair guide so as to exactely what to do, not sure myself.

I'm telling you, that it is basically impossible. The mirror is so thin that any excess pressure on any side is going to crack the mirror. Your best bet is to look on ebay, where the mirror run about $75, but you have to paint them, or you can go to the dealership where they run around $150 but will match you paint color. You could also check some junk yard near by.
::sigh:: I guess I'll just try to mess with the mirror anyways and if it breaks I was gonna have to buy one from the junkers anyway. Thanks alot though.

Wow, holy ancient thread revival batman. I posted this when I had like 15 posts!
Well, I decided to live peacefully with my cars little fault. I manually push the mirror up and down with my finger now. I found another mirror but it was for the passenger side. I got it off another TN member who wrecked his camry. Its 4 sale if anyone wants it. its unpainted in its black state and would fit any gen 3.
As for getting the mirror off, I haven't tried it on my car but tried it on another persons car. And it is true; the mirror just breaks when any force is put to it. Plus if you DO successfully get it off, it will probably break when you try to put it back on.
